Owls (Y3/4) - Miss Bailey and Mrs Boyle

Class Teacher - Miss Bailey
Teaching assistant - Mrs Boyle
Welcome back to a new half-term I hope you all had a restful break.
See below for an insight into our learning this half-term.
Curriculum
In English, we will develop our writing skills through our class book 'Where the Forest Meets the Sea' by Jeannie Baker. Our writing outcome will be to write an information board for a zoo, applying Gateway and Mastery keys taught throughout the unit.
In Maths, our focus will be on capacity, fractions and time.
In RE, our topic is To the End of the Earth. We will explore key events after Jesus’ resurrection, including the Road to Emmaus, the mission to spread the Gospel, Pentecost and the early Church. They learn about the Trinity, the role of Mary, and how these teachings link to prayer, Mass and Christian life today.
In Geography, we will be working to answer the question - How is the North West region of the UK similar or different to the Naples Bay region in Italy?
In History, we will be working to answer the question – How powerful was the Roman Empire and why did it start to decline?
In Science, we will be exploring flowering plants and plant growth. We will be learning how flowering plants grow and survive, including the roles of roots, stems and leaves. We will investigate what plants need (light, water, air, nutrients and space), observe changes over time, and carry out simple experiments to understand how water moves through plants and how different environments affect growth.
In Art, we are exploring – What can artists learn from nature? How do birds build nests? What can we learn from them about the traits we might show when we make experimental drawings and build sculpture? (We will eventually be making our own sculptural nests out of various materials!)
Our Forest School Session is on Monday 27th April – remember to bring wellies and a coat!
Important:
