We had a reflective time and lots of fun showing Father Peter our songs 'Shine Jesus Shine' and 'Your Majesty'. Thank you to our wonderful Y5 readers who lead our bidding prayers.

In our first week we learnt about the parts of the plants and what they do. Last week we learnt all about the different parts of leaves.

Fun Fact: Did you know leaves make food for the plants using the sunlight?

We explored leaves using magnifying glasses, exploring the stems, veins, lobes, tips, edges and leaflets. It really is amazing once you look at them close up! Next time you are out and about, have a close look at the leaves all around you.

As you walk through the library you will see some mysterious nets; in them are caterpillars which will grow into butterflies. This is part of Y6's science topic of 'Life cycles.' Week by week we will watch the caterpillars grow, and we will be planting butterfly-friendly flowers in our garden to welcome them when they are set free. 

In other Eagles' news, in Mathematics they have been converting fractions into percentages and have  been practising their arithmetic.

They've also got a DT day coming up, in which they are learning all about food!

The children have been enjoying Drawing Club and they've been making animations. They have even created their own Wacky races. Children have designed all kinds of different types of cars. Miss Kalnins said Johan made an outstanding animation in particular.
