Year 2/3 - Mrs Fallows and Mrs Entwistle

Mrs Fallows

Welcome to the summer term!

I hope you all had a great Easter and are ready to return to school for another term of learning.

In English, we will continue to develop our writing skills through our class book Major Glad and Major Dizzy. We will be focussing on using past and present tense in our writing as well as learning to use apostrophes to demonstrate possession.  Our final piece of writing will be a diary entry based on the events of World War II.

In Maths, we will continue to learn about money and statistics (bar charts , tally charts and pictograms). We will then move onto fractions. Y2 will learn about recognising and finding fractions of shapes and numbers. Year 3 will be comparing, ordering, adding and subtracting fractions.

In Religious Education,  the children will be learning about Pentecost. They will recognise the stories of Jesus’ Resurrection and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost as religious stories.  The children will also describe ways in which Christians spread the word of the Good News of Jesus in their lives.

In Science, year 2 will be investigating how plants grow from plants and seeds whilst year 3 will be building upon their knowledge from year 2 and learning in greater detail about the functions of a plant.

In History,  our topic is How did we learn to fly? Throughout this term, the  children will be learning about individuals who have contributed to the history of flight.

In Music, we will continue with our music and movement sessions whilst year 3 will learn to play the recorders.

In Physical Education, the children will learn the skills of athletics, focussing on both track and field events.

Finally, please keep your eye on our class dojo page for updates on events and pictures of your child's learning.
