Monitoring Visit

I am writing to inform you that school recently received a Monitoring Visit from Her Majesty’s Inspector (HMI).  This is usual practice though there is no set period or timescale for this to take place. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate school’s progress and judge whether the actions being taken by school leaders, the Local Authority and the Dioceses are making a difference.

As with an OFSTED inspection, the lead inspector rang school to explain there would be a full day visit the following day.  During the visit, there were conversations with myself, other school leaders, staff, children and external agencies.  There were also learning walks and scrutiny of school records.

I am pleased to be able to share the outcomes of the visit with you.  The inspector was very positive about the progress we are making, the rate at which we are improving and the impact of the actions we are taking.

This reflects much hard work on the part of the children, staff and you, our parents, in continuing to support us.  In addition, it is as a result of strong partnership working with both Shrewsbury and Chester Dioceses and the Local Authority.

As you know we are committed to ensuring the provision at Christ the King is the very best and will continue to work closely with you, the children and our external partners to achieve this.  You will be aware of the improvement work that has been taking place which we were able to celebrate with you at the end of the Spring Term.  It was great to see so many of you in school J.  Thank you for taking the time to come into school and spend time with us and the children.

Thank you again for your continued support, a copy of the report can be found below.

Teaching and Learning Review

A Teaching and Learning Review was recently carried out at Christ the King to monitor progress and provision since our last inspection.  We are delighted to inform you that the review recognised the progress we have made against our school improvement priorities.  A copy of the report can be downloaded from the link below.

Since our OFSTED report (May 2018) the school has made significant progress on all the highlighted improvement areas.  Our school development plan is updated on a half termly basis and published on the IEB webpage. Each class is monitored on a weekly basis to ensure teaching is consistently of a high standard and childrens workbooks are reviewed and checked. For the majority of children in the majority of classes, pupil attainmment progress remain on track to meet end of year targets and where there are gaps, these are being addressed with each teacher working together with the child and parents/carers. Regular parent evenings provide the opportunity for individual childrens progress to be discussed. We are not yet where we want to be, in all areas of school and will leave no stone unturned to ensure your children get the best education in a strong nurturing school.
