Art and Design

Whole School Curriculum Intent

To inspire and nurture our learners to feel empowered and able to become responsible citizens in the community and wider world, whilst motivating them to aspire and achieve the highest standards.

Welcome to our school Art page.

This term we are focusing our Art lessons on our whole school topic - Egypt.

We have been learning the skills involved in printmaking.

EYFS are learning the basics of printing, they have used objects such as sponges, fruit and vegetables to print with. They have created repeating patterns in their sketch books.

In year 2 and 3 the children have been learning about the process of mono-printing. They have focused their art on the Egyptian Hieroglyphic alphabet and practised drawing the symbols. The children have written their own names in Hieroglyphics too!

They have then created their own mono print of many Hieroglyphic symbols. The children have then looked at patterns and layering of colours.

In year 4 and 5 the children have been focusing on some detailed Egyptian art. They have analysed patterns and looked in depth at symbols used in art work.

The children have designed and made their own printing block and will use this to create a final piece of work.
