Kittens (Early Years) - Mrs Bradley 2022 - 2023

Mrs Bradley

Welcome to Early Years Robins and Chicks

Welcome back  everyone! We hope you had a lovely and relaxing break. We are so excited to be in the Autumn term 1 and can't wait to get started on our new topics.

We are very excited that this term our topic focus in Year 1/Reception will be looking at the history of Macclesfield. We will be looking at what school life was like in the past and comparing it to now. We will be using lots of sources to help us understand who lots of changes have happened. We will be finding out about the toys children played with in the past and listening to guest speakers who grew up in the 1950's.

This term will be continuing with our daily phonics and we will begin to learn how to blend  longer words and writing senences in year 1. In Reception, we will be beginning our phonics journey with the introduction of Read, Write Inc.

Please find our new Autumn term a jigsaw at the bottom of this page that shows you what your child will be focussing on this term.

In Nursery, the children will be lenaring all about their family, birthdays, pets and people who help us. We will be focussing on our communication and language skills and beginning our Wellcomm interventions.

Early Adopter curriculum

In 2020, we were so excited to be using the Early Adopter Curriculum  and being amongst the first schools who are taking part in this new revised framework. It is a very exciting time for CTK as we now begin year 3 of using the new Early Years revised Framework and delivering our Early Years Curriculum. You will find the  the new Development Matters document at the bottom of this page which we will be using to help us to support the delivery of the new EYFS framework along with the birth to five document.

Here is our wonderful Robins Early Years classroom. In this room we will have all of our Early Years children from 2-4 years.  We also have a wonderful Nursery room for our 2 and 3 year olds.

Homework

This will be given out every term. Our homework will be project based and will be on opportunity for you to work with your child at home on our new topic. You can choose from one (or as many as you like) activities from the worksheet of suggested activities.  .  We love to see what you have been doing at home so email us your homework or photos to kittens@christtheking.cheshire.sch.uk

Reading

Your child will be bringing home a library book every week that they have chosen. We would love you to read this to them every night and return it to school on Friday. This will help promote a love of reading, sharing stories together, build communication and language skills and develop their vocabulary.

RWI phonics

In Early Years we use Read Write Inc phonics every day to help the children learn new sounds. You can find the links of each sound we learn here every day. This will help you to practise their sounds at home and help develop their handwriting.

PE.

PE will be every Monday and Friday. Please ensure your child has a pair of black pumps, white t shirt and black shorts in school in a named PE bag. Please make sure all of their PE kit and uniform has their name in. Please make sure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on Tuesday and Wednesdays.
